OOPS! WE DID IT AGAIN!

The Dixie Bee-Liners' new album RIPE topped the August '08 Bluegrass Now Fan's Choice Top 20 chart. This was the band's second time atop BN and its fourth #1 to date! The band also achieved two simultaneous #1's on Bluegrass Music Profiles' Top 20 Hot Singles and the Roots Music Report Bluegrass Chart. The Bee-Liners spent nine consecutive weeks atop the RMR Bluegrass chart and two consecutive months in the Top Ten of both Bluegrass Unlimited charts. All in all, DBLs have spent 23 weeks at #1.

In other news, The Bee-Liners are once again on the road, right on the heels of fun-filled tours through Missouri, Texas, Georgia, Tennssee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Virginia. Check out our complete tour schedule for full details on upcoming shows.

Also, check out our song "Changin' " on Kenny & Amanda Smith's new cd, Live and Learn, available on Rebel Records. The Bluegrass Blog recently noted that the song is Kenny's favorite of all the tracks the band's new album. Kenny was quoted as follows:

This tune has a haunting quality about it which I can't really explain. It's a different kind of song for our band, and uncharted territory for us. It truly is one of the finest songs we have ever gotten the chance to record....

I brought along our recorded version of the song and we all stood around a jam box in Buddy and Brandi's backyard and listened to it all together. That was the first time we had played a song for the songwriters before the CD had come out.

Just before it started playing I remember being nervous and wondering if they would like the way we arranged their song. It was a special moment for all of us just to watch them react to the changes as it played, and to see their expressions of the little nuances of the song they created, which came from a place much deeper that only a songwriter can explain.

It was an emotional moment for all of us there that day.

"[RIPE] shows just how original this group is. From the lyrics and music to how it is all perfectly put together, The Dixie Bee-Liners have a sound all their own, and it's a pleasing, lively sound! If this is the direction contemporary bluegrass music is headed, I'm all for it. In fact, I'll take a bit more!"
- Bob Cherry, Cybergrass.com

RIPE was produced by Bil VornDick (Bob Dylan, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley) for Pinecastle Records. This album features the hit single "Down on The Crooked Road," an homage to Virginia's Heritage Music Trail.
